Just over 100 players competed in the inaugural Norfolk County Padel Championships, culminating in an exciting finals day on November 8th at Norfolk Padel in Fakenham. The initial rounds of this Grade 3 tournament had taken place between September and November at various padel centres around the county. The Norfolk Padel staff team proved to be excellent hosts for the finals and the day’s events showcased the high-quality courts and facilities. A good number of friends and supporters turned up to watch the keenly contested finals.

Men’s doubles: Chris Evans and Alex Mcnaughton beat Ben Collingwood and Tom Kenny 6-2 6-3

Women’s doubles: Paula Edwards and Suzi Scarlett beat Victoria Owen and Holly Vowles 6-2 6-4
Mixed doubles: Tom Kenny and Suzi Scarlett beat Cameron Raven and Paula Edwards 6-2 6-0
Over 40s men’s doubles: Mark Channell and Marc Lyon beat Mark Johnson and Pete Bull 3-6 6-3 (10-6)
Over 40s women’s doubles: Paula Edwards and Suzi Scarlett beat Tiffany Turner and Amanda Owen 6-0 6-0
Over 40s mixed doubles: Tom Kenny and Suzi Scarlett beat Mark Channell and Paula Edwards 6-2 6-0
Over 60’s women’s doubles: Gail Drage and Judy Oliver beat Lois Carrick and Kitty Wallace 6-2 6-3
Over 60’s mixed doubles: Julian Hubbard and Jenny Coady beat Dave and Jane Hodges (walkover)
Over 60 men’s doubles: Robin Chipperfield and Richard Millman (winners) / Mark Pirie and Mark Reeves (runners up)
Special congratulations go to Suzi Scarlett who picked up four silver salvers for winning all of the events she entered!

Norfolk currently has seven padel venues and a total of 20 courts, with the recent opening of Court de Padel on Whiffler Road, Norwich. It’s expected that by December 2025, three indoor and one outdoor courts will open at Taverham Recreational Facilities next to the high school.
