Transition To Norfolk Tennis CIO

Norfolk Tennis has formally changed its legal status from the Norfolk Lawn Tennis Association, a volunteer-led unincorporated association, to a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The full legal title of the new organisation is ‘Norfolk Tennis’, registered with the Charity Commission under Charity Number 1203480, with our address at c/o EAT&SC, Lime Tree Road, Norwich, Norfolk NR2 2NQ.

This transition marks a significant step forward in strengthening the governance, accountability and sustainability of tennis and padel across Norfolk. The new structure - with a Board of Trustees, Management Committee and part-time contractors - positions Norfolk Tennis to further its aims: to develop, promote and support tennis and padel for the benefit of all inhabitants of the County.

I would particularly like to recognise the efforts, expertise and dedication of Liz Gill, Heather Bottomley, Kathy Lofthouse and James Kent, who have been central to achieving this milestone. The process of moving to CIO status involved considerable planning, documentation and coordination.

This achievement lays the foundation for a stronger, more resilient and community-focused organisation, and Norfolk Tennis is deeply grateful for the contributions and support of the outgoing, long-standing NLTA trustees, Tony Edelsten, Sophia Key and Colin Stocker.

With the change, and future structural adjustments for 2026, Norfolk Tennis would like to invite you to a Club/Venue & Parent Forum at the East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club, beginning at 7pm. If you would like to attend, please contact Liz Gill at secretary@norfolktennis.org

With warmest thanks and appreciation for your contributions to tennis and padel within Norfolk.
