The Norfolk Tennis Championships 2024

Last week The East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club, Lime Tree Road played host to The Norfolk County Championships Festival of Tennis 2024. With Over 50 events ranging from U/8 to Seniors there was something for over 150 entrants to enjoy.

This tournament has been won by several local player's who have gone on to play Wimbledon in recent years, including: Amanda Brown, Chris Bailey, Richard Bloomfield, James Aukland and currently Olivia Nicholls who is in US Open action this week.

Blessed with good weather and under the direction of tournament referee, Derek Perry the action was none stop. Alongside the daily match schedule, Norfolk Tennis in collaboration with National Tennis Association organised a series of activities to engage with the wider community. This included an invitation to pupils from local primary schools to access some tennis coaching free of charge. An Inclusive Day which offered sessions for a variety of groups including; walking tennis, players with learning disabilities, special olympics, visual impairment and para standing. Georgia Routledge, Norfolk's very own Para Standing Tennis World Champion was present and provided some great advise to all involved.

On Thursday evening, Norfolk Tennis invited members of its alumni to get together for a social hit and catch up and on Friday evening there was time to enjoy a Supertar's Exhibition Tournament, with several of our Men's county team showing off their skills. Overall, the tournament was a great success and was well supported by parents and spectators.

Next year we promise it will be even bigger and better.
