Spital Bowls & Tennis Club Thanks Head Coach Matt Bode and Welcomes Ian Armfield

The community at Spital Bowls & Tennis Club is saying a heartfelt thank you to Head Coach Matt Bode as he prepares to begin an exciting new coaching venture in Australia.

After five fantastic years in the role, Matt leaves behind an incredible legacy at the club, having played a key role in growing participation and building a thriving tennis community in Tamworth.

During his time as Head Coach, Matt helped transform the club into a welcoming hub for tennis lovers, creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to learn the game, develop their skills, and compete. From junior coaching programmes and adult sessions to social tennis and competitions, his passion for the sport helped bring more people onto the courts and strengthened the club’s community spirit.

Members and players alike have praised Matt’s dedication and enthusiasm, which helped foster a positive environment where players could enjoy tennis while continuing to improve.

While Matt’s next chapter will take him across the world to Australia, his contribution to the club will be long remembered and greatly appreciated.

As one chapter closes, another begins. The club is delighted to welcome Ian Armfield as the new Head Coach at Spital Bowls & Tennis Club.

Ian brings with him valuable experience and a passion for coaching, and he will take on the role with the aim of continuing to grow participation, support player development, and build on the strong foundations already in place.

The club looks forward to an exciting future under Ian’s leadership and encourages members and players to give him a warm welcome.
