Tennis Cornwall Volunteer Award

James Brown, the driving force behind St Ives Tennis Club’s £100,000 new courts project, has been honoured as the 2020 Tennis Cornwall Volunteer of the Year.
The award from the county arm of the Lawn Tennis Association is recognition for his efforts which last September saw St Ives become the first club in Cornwall to open synthetic clay courts.
He will now go forward to the regional finals of the LTA’s annual national award scheme.
It is a fitting reward after Jim, the club’s men’s captain, put in a huge amount of work and showed tremendous determination to obtain financial support from Sport England's Community Asset Fund and overcome countless logistical - and other - problems in order to make the dream become reality during a hugely difficult year.
