St Ives Men’s A and B teams secured a championship double in 2023 as they finished top of their respective Cornwall Summer Tennis League divisions for the first time in the club’s history.
The A team won the County Division title to win promotion to the top tier. They went into their final match against third-placed Newquay B needing three points to make sure of the title and romped to a 10-1 victory to finish the season 12 points clear of nearest rivals Wadebridge B.
The B team, beaten only once all season, had already clinched the Division Two West title a week earlier to ensure a rapid return to Division One a year after being relegated.
The successful squads celebrated with a St Ives Saturday night out – drinks at The Hub followed by dinner at the Rajpoot . . . and more for those with real stamina!
