One of David's first coaching jobs was at Ashfield Tennis Club in Workington. He started one April morning in 2004 just after he had gone full time and really loved his time there, coaching juniors and adults and running many club championships too.

Sadly, Ashfield was sold some years later for development but David carried on his Saturday mornings in Workington using many venues across town to ensure that year round Tennis was continued.

The programme still runs to this day, some 16 years later, and David has established a year round programme at St Joseph's School that compliments the county junior teams too.

To ensure the affordability of the programme David relies heavily on the financial support of the Ashfield Tennis Club trustee fund which is administered through Cumbria Community Foundation. The Mini Red Tour is also funded this way.
