We enter 5 men's teams and 5 ladies teams. A team is 2 pairs with each pair playing both pairs from the opposing team in a best of 3-set rubber, playing a Championship tie-break for the third set. If the match reaches 2-2 in rubbers, then a "short set shoot out" is played, with each team choosing one player from each pair to represent their club. This is usually very exciting and ensures a result for the match. Match duration is typically 3-4 hours. There are 5 or 6 matches over 5 to 6 months.
