Our annual Tennis Club Championships are the highlight of our summer season and our Finals Day in July highlights the best of our club tennis with events in Mens, Ladies and Seniors singles and doubles.  

ENTER FOR THE 2025 CLUB CHAMPS

In true East Dorset tradition, we will be holding our annual tennis club championships this year with finals being played on Saturday 19 July 2025 with a social event for the late afternoon/early evening.

Entries are now open and as in recent years all entries, draw sheets and results will be organised online. 

Entries should be submitted by Friday 25 April 2025 at the latest so that the draws can be made, and matches started by the beginning of May.  Entrants must be fully paid up club members.

Whilst we applaud those members who enter multiple events, please carefully consider the time factor involved. This is particularly important when it comes to organising doubles matches and if you think you may reach multiple finals. It is probably wise to limit your entries to a maximum of 4 events (no more than 2 doubles events) and you will need to be prepared to play all finals on the same day, probably consecutively.

Matches can be played on any surface, including grass if they are the only available courts when you need to play, but Finals Day will be on Astro.

The success of the tournament will be dependent on participants' commitment. Even if you do not think you will get to the final, the outcome of your match impacts on whoever will be!

·       Contact the opposition as soon as you know who they are.

·       Arrange a date as soon as possible and inform the committee of that decision. This will be added to the draw sheet for the committee, and others to see, especially potential opponents.

·       Ensure that you carefully consider your obligations to others in the draw regarding any planned holidays.

·       Book courts in a timely manner. (If necessary, these can be booked by emailing edclubchamps@gmail.com more than a week in advance)

·       Email your results to the committee on completion of your match. The draw sheets will be updated accordingly.

·       Inform a member of the committee of any problems immediately, using edclubchamps@gmail.com

·       Matches MUST be completed by the deadlines set.

If you would like to play in a doubles event but yet have a partner, put 'Required' on the form and we will do our best to pair people up.

More details will follow after we have made the draw. Other than the Open categories, events will only go ahead if there are enough entries. (Probably a minimum of 4)

1.      Fill in the entry form CLICKING HERE.  Remember to add your partners name for doubles events, or put Required if you do not yet have a partner.

The entry fee is just £7 for any number of events.

2.      Make payment before the events start!!!  Online payments are required. If you pay for someone else, please make sure that you let us know.

Make payments to the club bank account.

Each event is included as a separate tab on the spreadsheet and will be updated regularly on receipt of results. There will also be hard copies on the noticeboard near the tennis pavilion.

Match formats are as follows:

·      All Open events consist of 3 Tie break sets (7point)

·      All other events (O45,O60) consist of 2 tie break sets with a 10-point championship tie break as a deciding set.

All finals will be played on Saturday 20 July. Matches will only be postponed to Sunday in the case of extreme weather conditions.

• It is the responsibility of ALL players to contact opponents as soon as possible.
• If you have any planned holidays or absence of more than a week between now and finals day 20 July, it is imperative that you inform the committee and potential opponents at the beginning of the tournament.
• If you know in advance that you have limited days of the week when you are available to play, please let your draw opponents know as soon as possible.
• Please contact the committee immediately if there is any issue such as injury, finding a date or difficulty in making contact.
• Matches can be played on any surface, but the finals will be played on the Astro courts.
• Please try to inform the committee of the date that you have arranged to play so that it can be displayed on the draw sheets and identified on the court booking system
• To be sure of getting a court, please contact Sue Hobden who can book more than a week in advance. If necessary and with approval, courts may be allocated during a club session (suehobden64@gmail.com)
• ALL results must be emailed to suehobden64@gmail.com promptly so that the draw sheets can be updated in a timely manner. If possible, email your next opponents immediately to let them know (their contact details can be accessed online through the link above).
