Booking Rules

  1. Courts will expressly reserved for Club Socials, Matches or Competitions - no other bookings will take priority unless permission has been granted by the Club's Committee.
  2. Any of the Club's Committee may stop play whenever it is considered necessary to protect the surface of the courts or for safety reasons if the courts are deemed to be unplayable.  If play is already in progress and has exceed 30 minutes of play, no money can be refunded, however, if play is stopped during the first 30 minutes of play, a full refund will be given.
  3. A court cancellation should be made with more than 24 hours’ notice prior to the court booking time commencing.  Cancellations made within 24 hours of the court booking will be charged the full court fee.
  4. In adverse weather conditions the Club may close the courts due to safety reasons.  The booker should take care to ensure playing conditions are safe before using the Club's facilities.
  5. No cash refunds will be given. A refund will be applied to the card which was used at the time of booking - it may take up to 10 working days for this refund to show on the payment method.
  6. Player’s footwear must have soft-soled non-marking tennis shoes with rubber or cord soles and without raised heels.  Black soles are not permitted on the courts.
  7. Court access is for your use only - do not let others tailgate in. Misuse or unauthorised access to the courts is not permitted.
  8. Except for a reasonable number of member’s friends, the general public are not allowed inside the court enclosures.  Non-members should not go on or between the courts during play. 
  9. Animals and bicycles are not allowed inside the tennis court enclosures.
  10. Any dispute relating to the booking or use of the tennis courts must be referred to the Club's committee who can be contacted at: committee@writtletennisclub.com
  11. A registered member infringing the rules will be liable to have their membership suspended or cancelled and be excluded from re-registration for a period of up to 12 months.
  12. No smoking is allowed within the Club's premises.
  13. Bins must be used for the disposal of waste.
  14. Whilst Writtle Tennis Club makes every effort to ensure that the playing surfaces are safe and without obstruction, tennis players should check carefully that the courts are free from debris of any kind before commencing and report any damages to the Club's committee.
  15. Writtle Tennis Club accepts no responsibility or liability for any personal injury or loss of property whilst using the tennis courts.
  16. Use of the Club's facilities for non-recreational tennis or non-tennis events must be presented to the club's committee in order for the booking to be authorised.
