Codicote Lawn Tennis Club

Codicote Tennis Club is a British Registered Tennis Venue with the LTA and meets the LTA’s Minimum Safeguarding Standards, a building block to ensure a safe and inclusive venue.  We are a fully inclusive club and offer tennis for all irrelevant of age, ability and financial circumstances. Established in 1967 the club has grown and developed significantly and now has three floodlight courts with over 180 players, both adult and juniors, representing the club in competitive matches as well as a similar number of players who prefer to play socially.   It is this balance that makes us different from the larger tennis centres across Hertfordshire and helps us create a fantastic social atmosphere.

We have significantly improved our facilities over the last few years and we are continuing to investment in our facilites for our members as follows: 

COURT RESURFACING 

We successfully raised £13,000 of external funding in 2020 which together with our own resources (sinking fund) had meant we had sufficient funds to resurfacing all 3 courts with Artifical Grass surface (Advantage Pro Tiger Turf), and replace the fencing for courts 2&3.   The overall cost was £50,000 and work was completed in Oct 2020 and the courts are now playable - ENJOY.  

LED FLOODLIGHTS

In 2022 Codicote Tennis Club decided to upgrade their existing 15 year old Halogen floodlights, as maintaining the current lights was becoming unsustainable driven by the lack of replacement parts and the increasing cost of electricity.   We therefore chose to switch to LED Floodlights, which are better for the environment and considerably cheaper to operate.

In order to complete the project the Club successfully raised £8,500 of grant funding towards the cost of £21,000 from London Luton Airport Operations Ltd (through the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation), Hertfordshire County Council Locality Budget Scheme (Richard Thake) and Codicote Parish Council.

Thanks to these grants our appointed contractor, Luminance Pro Lighting Systems Limited, completed the project on 17 August 2022.  We are delighted with the result and this improvement in our facilities ensures the future viability of Codicote Tennis Club for the local community and our members.
