Gravesham Lawn Tennis Club is delighted to be reintroducing our Doubles Box League, giving members the chance to enjoy more fun, friendly, and competitive tennis.

Whether you’ve played in a box league before or are completely new to the format, this is a great way to get regular match play, improve your doubles skills, and meet other members of the club.

What is a Box League?

A Box League is a structured but flexible competition where players are grouped into “boxes” with others of a similar standard. This ensures matches are competitive and enjoyable for everyone.

The league is open to all adult members, and juniors aged 14 and over are also welcome to take part.

How does the Doubles Box League work?

In each round, you will be placed into a group of four players. Over the course of the round, you will play three matches, partnering with each of the other players in your box once. For example:

• Match 1: Player A & Player B vs Player C & Player D

• Match 2: Player A & Player C vs Player B & Player D

• Match 3: Player A & Player D vs Player B & Player C

Matches are played using the Fast4 format (Follow here for FAST4 rules), which keeps things quick, exciting, and easy to fit into busy schedules.

You’ll have six weeks to arrange matches directly with the other players in your box at mutually convenient times.

Promotion and relegation

At the end of the round:

• The highest-scoring players will move up a box for the next round

• Players finishing at the bottom of their box will move down one

This helps keep future matches well balanced and competitive.

Important information

• A Whatsapp Group shall be set up for your box. Contact details will be shared with the other players in your box so you can arrange matches.

• For juniors, a parent or guardian’s contact details will be shared instead.

• Full rules, box details, and instructions for submitting results will be sent out once entries close.
