Inclusive Tennis
The Club has several projects completed and in hand to make the club more inclusive in 2025:
February 2025
We won the 2024 LTA County Winner for Tennis Opened Up Award for the Club's Gurdwara Gravesend Project to attract members of the Gurdwara community to play tennis. We are attending the Vaisakhi Festival in April 2025. Read about last year's project here.
March 2025
Our Head Coach is delivering weekly coaching for learners age 19-25 from LINK 19 College. Link 19 is a Post-19 Specialist College for Learners with an EHCP. Their main aim is to support and guide young adults into voluntary or paid employment.
We've loved welcoming their learners to the Club as their enthusiasm is contagious and it's been rewarding for both coach and club volunteers.
April 2025
We're starting weekly walking tennis with U3A in April.
Walking Tennis is played at a slower pace than the usual game. We’ll use Walking Tennis rules such as 1 or 2 ball bounces during a rally and underarm or overarm serving.
Everyone is welcome. If players are injured or have an impairment, we can adapt our equipment to suit their needs. We'll use softer bouncing balls and different court sizes to make it really inclusive.
June 2025
We're working with our local LTA Inclusion Mentor to host a Festival in June for Year 3 & 4 disadvantaged children from local schools and offer them subsidised lessons following on.
