It's official! Our lovely club has been voted Berkshire LTA Club of the year and now has received the further accolade of Regional Club of the year for our LTA Region.
Winning the County Club of the year automatically entered us for the Regional Awards, Central and East Region, which covers Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Essex.
Members of the committee went to the County AGM and awards ceremony on February 15th and were pleased to accept a shiny trophy, whilst on June 11th a few committee members were invited to the Rothesay International Open Tennis Tournament at Nottingham in order to receive the Club's Regional award and trophy.
We are also so pleased to let you know that our wonderful Louise Shearer has been awarded the Berkshire Volunteer of the Year award.
We are delighted on several levels. Firstly, the Volunteer of the year award recognises Louise's ongoing hard work and dedication to the club since her involvement began in 2018. Louise has formed a strong foundation for the Club's success over the years. Secondly, the Club of the year awards recognise the extraordinary work performed by the committee, our coach Damian Lane and several active members and volunteers to grow the club, enrich its activities and develop the facilities such as courts and lights.
And there is more! As a Regional Award winner we were put forward for the National stage of the process against other Regional winners from England, Scotland and Wales. After a tough judging round and full consideration of all nominations, we were judged within the top 3 and are now a National Finalist! Our Chair Richard Raynes and our fundraising queen Kim de Marchi will be representing Pangbourne Tennis Club at an awards ceremony to reveal the winner of the National club of the year award, on July 2nd at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton.
Huge congratulations to all of us on this incredible achievement . Every member who comes to sessions or drills or coaching, every member who donated and took part in our fundraising campaign and every member who helped with the installation of the lights and maintenance of the courts should be proud of these awards and how much we have grown over the last few years. Congratulations!
