Mixed Doubles Development Tennis
In addition to the friendly Social Mixed Doubles and the League competitions where
we enter up to three Mixed teams, we have introduced "Development Matches"
aimed at adults and older juniors who are either already playing in the lower Team
(C) or wish to gain further skills and confidence and play competitively in a friendly
club setting. For some players, this type of match is an important stepping stone
back to competitive tennis e.g. after injury.
We are running Development Matches throughout the Winter and Summer Season.
They mostly happen weekly on Mondays at 2pm with some also organised on
Monday evenings at 6pm. Matches alternate between home and away games. They
are against a number of local clubs – Purley, Goring and Woodlands (Tilehurst).
Currently, matches against Purley Tennis Club are ‘ladies only’ as there are far more
ladies involved in the group than men. The matches consist of up to three sets of
tennis with 2 or 3 pairs of similar skilled and likeminded tennis players. The
emphasis is on fun and experience whilst getting to know a great group of people.
Matches are usually followed by afternoon tea, supper or a trip to the pub!
Matches are coordinated and scheduled by Mal, Kim and our Club captain, Fiona
using a specific WhatsApp group so that all members who wish to take part can
regularly be invited to play. If you are interested in friendly mixed doubles
development matches, feel that you fit the requirements and have not been
approached then please use the Contact Us page to let us know and Mal, Kim or
Fiona will get back to you.
We look forward to meeting you and getting you involved!
