Social Tennis

Club social doubles take place every Saturday at 2pm  and Fridays at 7:30pm. These are open sessions where members of all abilities can join and play friendly doubles matches with other members.

The session is usually facilitated by a committee member who  will provide balls and access to the clubhouse.

There's no need to sign up each week - we send a reminder on the WhatsApp group and you are free to message us back if you are planning to come. Please see the Contact Us page if you need help joining the WhatsApp group or to send us an enquiry.

We encourage players of all levels to come along - the only requirement is that players can sustain a bit of a rally and serve, even if it's underarm! There will be both newer players and very experienced ones at any one session and we mix the pairs to make sure everyone has fun.

Also, we run fun, American tournaments throughout the year. Look out for emails and information on the website for details of these.

New! Social Walking Tennis

We are introducing walking tennis at Pangbourne Tennis Club. Sessions are open to all and take place Saturdays at 1pm. Watch out for the WhatsApp reminder (usually sent at the same time as the social tennis reminder).

What is walking tennis?

Do you love tennis but are looking for a gentler pace of play? Walking Tennis is safe, fun, inclusive and a fantastic way to stay active! It’s a game that’s open to anyone - whether you’re a lifelong tennis player, a complete beginner or just need a bit more time to get into the swing of things, you can give the game a go in a supportive setting.

You can play tennis at any age and Walking Tennis offers an easy way for older people to keep their body and mind active – while also enjoying the social side of being part of a tennis community.

Walking Tennis is for anyone that wants to play tennis, but at their own pace. It’s ideal for
those who:

  • Are just starting out and want to build up their confidence
  • Are returning from an injury
  • Just need a bit more time getting to the ball

Walking Tennis has been designed to be accessible for all. It’s still tennis but with a few tweaks:

  • Players can let the ball bounce twice for extra time
  • It's played on a smaller court with orange (softer) tennis balls
  • Players can’t run or jump
