Fastest Serve

Danny brought along a speed radar, giving players a few practice attempts before it was time to deliver the serve that really counted. It was £2 for two hits—after all, it was a fundraising event—and with 16 contenders, everyone was eager to produce their best effort.

In the ladies’ competition, third place went to Michelle Griffith with 46 mph (74 km/h), second to Fliss O’Doyle with 62 mph (100 km/h), and first place to Millie, who topped the chart with an impressive 67 mph (108 km/h).

The men’s competition was just as fiercely contested. John Sweet racked up the most attempts (10—I trust you paid for all of those, John), but it was the final three who stole the show: Rob Jones took third with 71 mph (114 km/h), Andy Gray edged into second with 72 mph (116 km/h), and Tom Griffith claimed top spot with a superb 91 mph (146 km/h).

I asked Danny what his serve speed used to be. It was 110-115 mph (177-185 kmh).  Keep practicing everyone and maybe next time it could be you.
