St Ives B 8 v Truro E 2

On a blissfully sunny evening the Men of the B team headed up to Truro to play the mighty Truro E who are possibly the nicest team in the league.

The result was not the most interesting thing about the match but the celebrity chitta chatta going on. I’ll explain more later.

Chris and Gav played a very spirited first pair who were much much better than the score suggests as we won 6-1 6-2. Played in a great spirit and that’s it really…. A bit boring I know but we can’t make anything up. Don’t worry, the fun bit is coming.

The ever youthful Mike, and Josh (Can we please adopt his new nickname “Coleio” for that is his name) Played their 2nd pair and had a good match winning 6-1 6-4.

We switched round and Coleio (For that is his name) and Mike had a titanic match against Truro’s 1st pair. In a nip and tuck match, they narrowly lost to a much-improved pair 7-5 7-5.

Remember the Celebrity angle, well Chris and Gav asked the Truro 2nd pair’s name and the reply was, Chas and…… Dave. I kid you not, Chas and Dave. It was like Red rag to a Bull. How many Chas and Dave songs could the boy’s come up with while playing the match. Well, it turns out quite a lot. There was much laughter and sing songs as the boys ran out winners 6 – 2 6 – 1.

As I mentioned, the Truro E team are a credit to the club, great fun and put on a really good spread. We drank beer and sang songs with Chas and Dave leading the way.
