Courts 1 and 2 repainting update

UPDATE 4th May

We are hoping to get Courts 1 and 2 re-rollered and repainted this week with works starting on Thursday 9th May.  These two courts will therefore be out of action from then until Friday 17th May.  Sorry for the inconvenience but we have to do it when the weather is favourable and this looks to be an opportune time at the moment!

Please find below an update from Committee Member (Andy) about the repainting and issues with Courts 1 and 2.

The work will not now be done this week which was originally planned and he will be speaking to First Serve on Friday 3rd May (and subsequent Fridays as necessary) and will provide a further update to members after that.  Basically, as soon as the weather gives us 8 clear days he will block the courts off on club spark (overriding any bookings) and also let members know the dates.  As you will see we are completely dependent upon the weather so this inconvenience to members is unavoidable unfortunately.

"Had a meeting last week with First Serve to discuss observations of their work so far by club members. In a nutshell their standard of work falls well inside the LTA guide lines, but in an attempt to get as close to perfect surface as possible, they will conduct a re-roller prior to painting, and have already let me have a written response to each observation.

Program of Work: In the perfect world, day 1 is re-roller, day 2 and 3 is paint, and days 4-8 is curing of paint.

Constraints: Re-roller day must be a fine sunny day with the temperature at 20 degrees in the afternoon. Painting days must be sunny days with a temperature of at least 15 degrees and a wind speed no greater than 5mph. Ideally, the 5 curing days should be fine as well.

In reality what will happen is that both myself and First Serve will be avidly watching the 7 day forecast for Trull. When we get our window of opportunity, First Serve will go for it.

As I'm sure you can see this is a very fluid situation, and we are totally dependent on the weather.  Obviously, this means that courts 1 and 2 will go out of action at very short notice, but I have no idea when as yet.
