"Wellington Tennis Club hosted their annual Wimbledon Tournament where 20 adults and 20 juniors participated with many onlookers supporting from the sidelines. Players were seeded with a junior and adult partnering each other playing doubles against another pair. Partners changed after 5 games so that there were a different 4 on court each time. All results were collated by format organisers Jane and Chris Hampden who did a sterling job maintaining the flow of matches.
Lydia Mitchell won the Junior gold medal whilst Harry Stafford won silver. New member, Ian Davies, and Ben Thorne, whose wife and 3 sons also played, were joint Adult winners. "
"Everyone was impressed with the standard of play from our juniors and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day with many new members joining in with the fun. Many teenagers are now playing some matches in our Senior teams and are playing very well."
A raffle raised £68 in aid of The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust that assists wheelchair players. 8 members have been fortunate to win a pair of Wimbledon tickets through the LTA's ballot so some very excited adults and juniors will be enjoying their days out in coming week."Someone has won a pair for the Men's Finals Day and I'm looking forward to hearing about their wonderful experience," Sue added.
