On Thursday evening (16/02/23) eight of our members headed to Blackbrook Leisure Centre in Taunton to compete in a triples tournament.
Triples is a fun format of the game for players of any ability or experience. Three players start on court; one on the left, one on the right and one at the net. Teams could have one or two substitutes and players rotate so everyone is involved, after every point, win or lose. First team to 15 points win, deciding point if scores reach 14-14.
The tournament is run by our coach Ivor Griffiths, who is accompanied by his team of feeders, so there's no need to go looking for the next ball. There were eight teams on 4 courts playing a round robin format with at least 34 players battling it out.
Pictured above is the winning team Triple Sec (Helena, Claire, Maggie & Mary). The second team from Wivey, The Racketeers, consisting of Teresa, Jemma, Martin and Derek finished a respectable third place.
