Inclusive tennis for all ages and abilities

Currently there are approximately 220+ members, many of which are families, and the club has a superb reputation for being a very social and friendly club, while still maintaining an exceptional standard of tennis. Not only can you enjoy competitive and social tennis of all standards, but you will also find that you will make many friendships due to the social and inclusive nature of this family-friendly club.

Tennis all year round

With 4 floodlit brand-new all-weather courts members can play all year round. The brand-new courts were resurfaced and completed Sept 2020!

Writtle Sports and Social Club

Membership to Writtle Sports and Social club is inclusive! The hub of Writtle Sports is home of many sports including Senior Football, Junior Football, Tennis, Cricket, Table Tennis, Darts, Keep fit, Dance etc. There is also a welcoming bar, regular events and a function hall.

Tournaments, events & Leagues

All club Members are entitled to enter the Annual Club Championship tournament. There are also other smaller tournaments run throughout the year. For those looking to get competitive, members can also play in our teams to represent the club in various leagues in the summer and winter seasons. 

Inclusive Coaching Programmes

With a thriving partnership with Writtle Tennis Academy the club has gone from strength to strength. Head Coach Andy Wilshaw was runner up for the LTA Development Coach of the Year 2020 for his outstanding work at Writtle Tennis Club and in the Chelmsford Community. Andy won LTA Essex Development Coach of the Year and then won the Regional Development Coach of the Year 2020 - Central and East in order to be nominated for the Nationals! Free British Tennis Membership

As a Member of an LTA registered venue you can get FREE membership of British Tennis which will entitle you to represent the Club in our teams. You can also access the British Tennis Wimbledon Ballot, compete with a British Tennis Rating and stay on the ball with the latest news in British Tennis. Wimbledon Tickets

All club members are entitled to enter the draw for our annual allocation of Wimbledon Tickets as long as they are also British Tennis Members and are a member of Writtle Tennis Club
