1. Purpose and Scope
Baseline Edge Ltd is committed to providing a safe, positive and supportive environment for all participants, coaches, staff, volunteers and visitors. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. This policy applies to all activities organised by the Company, including coaching sessions, events, online communication and social media.
2. Definition of Bullying
Bullying is defined as behaviour that is repeated, targeted, and causes hurt, fear, anxiety or intimidation. It can be carried out face-to-face, online, or through mobile devices, and may include: name-calling, teasing, offensive remarks, physical aggression, exclusion, spreading rumours, abusive messages or images.
3. Our Commitments
- Promote a culture of respect, fairness and inclusion where bullying is neither accepted nor ignored.
- Encourage those who have been bullied or witnessed bullying to speak out and report it.
- Investigate all allegations of bullying promptly, thoroughly and fairly.
- Provide support to those affected by bullying and take steps to change behaviour.
- Ensure that parents, carers, coaches and participants understand this policy and their responsibilities.
4. Signs of Bullying
- Emotional: becoming withdrawn, anxious, upset, or developing low self-esteem.
- Physical: injuries, damaged clothing or equipment.
- Social: exclusion, unwillingness to participate, isolation from others.
- Behavioural: changes in mood, avoiding certain people or places, sudden changes in device use.
5. Reporting Procedure
Reports of bullying should be made to the Head Coach as soon as possible. Provide as much detail as possible, including names, dates, witnesses and actions taken. If someone is in immediate danger, the police should be contacted (999).
6. Investigation and Actions
The Head Coach will investigate, gather evidence and ensure fairness. Actions may include mediation, apology, behaviour agreements, suspension or exclusion. All parties will be informed of the outcome, and records will be kept for monitoring.
7. Prevention Strategies
- Include anti-bullying awareness in coach and volunteer training.
- Establish clear codes of conduct for players, coaches, parents and volunteers.
- Promote teamwork, respect and positive behaviour in all sessions.
- Monitor online interactions and intervene if inappropriate behaviour occurs.
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed at least every three years or earlier if there is a change in legislation, guidance or operational practice.
