1. Purpose and Scope
Baseline Edge Ltd (“the Company”) provides tennis coaching services at Victory Park, Addlestone and other venues as agreed with clients. We are committed to creating an environment in which everyone feels welcomed, respected, valued and able to achieve their full potential, regardless of background or individual characteristics. This policy applies equally to coaches, staff, volunteers, players, parents/carers and all users of our services.
2. Statement of Intent
We believe that tennis is for everyone. In line with the LTA’s vision of ‘Tennis Opened Up’, we are committed to ensuring our coaching programmes and services are relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for all. We will proactively promote equality of opportunity and challenge discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation of any form.
3. Definitions & Protected Characteristics
We recognise and act upon the principle that everyone has the right to participate in tennis without discrimination. Protected characteristics (under the Equality Act 2010) include: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We also value diversity of ability, socio-economic background, culture, language, and other aspects of identity.
4. Our Commitments
- Ensure our coaching sessions, communications and marketing reflect diversity and inclusion.
- Treat everyone fairly and with respect, recognising that individual needs may differ.
- Make reasonable adjustments where required to enable participation.
- Create and maintain an environment where discrimination, bullying, harassment or victimisation are not tolerated.
- Provide training, guidance and support to all staff, coaches and volunteers.
- Monitor, review and report on inclusion and diversity outcomes within our programme.
- Engage with under-represented groups and communities to ensure our services are accessible.
5. Responsibilities
- The Head Coach will act as the first point of contact for any concerns, discrimination incidents or requests for adjustment.
- All coaches, staff and volunteers are required to act in accordance with this policy and report any concerns.
- Participants, parents and carers are encouraged to raise any concerns about equal treatment or accessibility.
6. Handling Complaints & Incidents
Anyone who believes they have been discriminated against or witnessed discrimination should report it to the Head Coach. Reports will be taken seriously, investigated impartially, and appropriate action will be taken. Confidentiality will be maintained, and victims will be supported.
7. Review
This policy will be reviewed at least every three years or sooner if there are changes to legislation, LTA guidance, or operational arrangements.
