About Us
The initial idea of having tennis courts in Beckington was discussed at an open meeting in 1996.
Beckington Tennis Association was formed and after many years of hard work by numerous Chairmen and committee members, the courts were officially opened in July 2005.
This would not have been possible if local resident, Mrs Ruth Millet, had not generously donated the land to build the courts and pavilion on.
Funding for the two courts and pavilion came from the Foundation for Sport and the Arts, Mendip District Council, Beckington Parish Council and Awards for All. In addition to this funding were the generous upfront donations of £250 from many families in the local area. Although the donation allowed Lifetime Associateship of the BTA, many of the people who donated were not tennis players but simply wanted to support a great community project.
BTA continues to grow and improve its services thanks to the dedication, time and generosity of so many people both now and over the years. The current Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who continues to support us.
