Do you need an incentive to play more tennis?

Do you wish to play friendly tennis in a slightly more competitive manner?

Are you struggling to find partners of a similar standard?

We have decided to join a local interclub league primarily with Lindfield and Haywards Heath Tennis Clubs.

Lindfield Tennis Club established the Interclub box league competition some years ago to give local tennis players an opportunity to meet each other and play a socially competitive game.  It has grown through word of mouth over the years and the competition extended from mixed singles to mixed doubles, ladies doubles and men’s doubles.  Whatever your standard, there is a league for you.   The strongest competitions are the mixed singles and mixed doubles with around 35 players in the mixed singles and 22 pairs in the mixed doubles with each division being around six players/pairs.  The majority of the current participants are members of either Lindfield, Haywards Heath, or Cuckfield Tennis Clubs.

How to Play

There are three rounds each year – January to April, May to July and August to November.  Each match is played as one long set with the first player/pair to 11 games being the winner; a conventional tie break is played if the score is 10-all.  You get one point for each game you win, one point for each match played and a bonus point for each match won.  Promotions and relegations are based on points won and not matches won.  Divisional results are published on a Google Drive.

You can play on any court – home courts as well as club courts.   Cuckfield Tennis Club waive all visitors fees for league matches played at Cuckfield where one player is a member of Cuckfield.

Winners and Prizes

At the end of the three rounds there are trophies and prizes for the overall winners and runner-up.  The winners and runners-up are not those necessarily in the top division as it is the players with the best average winning margin over the season who are successful.  In the last few years winners and runners-up have come from the lower divisions.

Costs

The entry fee is £5 per annum for each competition entered.
