Mon, 30 Mar 2026 00:00
At the AGM in November, Margaret Wilson a long-serving committee member and founder member of the club announced that she was retiring from the committee.
Margaret has had numerous HTC committee roles over the years and more recently has enjoyed running the Adults Club Championships - see above - and we thank her for everything she has done to help the club grow to what it is today.
In her honour and as recognition of her long-standing contribution to the club the committee have created the Margaret Wilson Junior Fair Play Award. This will be awarded annually to one junior club member (aged 4-17) who has shown the most respect, kindness, honesty and enjoyment whilst playing tennis at HTC during the year.
These are all qualities that Margaret has always displayed in everything she has done for the club over the years. The winner will be announced at the end of June and the trophy presented at the Junior Club Finals Day.
In her own words she has shared some happy memories.
‘I have always loved my time at HTC. In 1982 starting up short tennis together with a committee of parents, then when we got our two tennis courts setting up junior tennis. It was such a fun time and we made so many friends who were all happy to be involved, many of whom still play today. Over the years we employed many different coaches, many of whom I still bump into today. We also had many Juniors who have gone on to be full time coaches.
Being on the Bucks LTA Committee in charge of Short Tennis and later on as Editor of the Bucks County Tennis magazine Tiebreaker which was very hectic but interesting. I really stretched Bev’s patience over those years, as my computing skills were very basic (and still are) but he was always there when I lost articles etc!
So I have to thank HTC for being a lovely part of my life.
