JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025
Wed, 24 Sep 2025 00:00

The weather wasn't very kind for the JCC25 Finals Day with players and supporters braving blustery showers. Having been postponed from the July heatwave we forged ahead and all players deserve huge congratulations for persevering. The format for each age group changed dependent on the size of the entry.
18U BOYS
We had two excellent semi-finals on Friday with Ned Birkby playing Jude Kingsnorth and Harry Baldwin playing Harry Blowfield. Ned and Harry Baldwin secured places in the final, however, circumstances didn’t allow Harry to make it for the final and so Ned was presented with the trophy.
12U BOYS
The semi-finals were also played on the Friday with Elliot Philpott winning through against Thomas Speight and Orhan Yesugey overcoming Edward Speight in two tightly contested matches. Orhan and Elliot played their final, a repeat of the past two years where they both have been victorious, this year it was Orhan who retained the trophy.
10U BOYS
Due to an illness withdrawal the two semi-finals were changed to a 3 player round robin format between Mav Horton, Sami Fordham and Hector Fisher. All matches went to a deciding third set championship tie break. This group were the first on court and the last off - the matches were so hard fought. Hector took the trophy with Sami runner-up.
9U BOYS
Another round robin format for 4 of our Orange court players. Reuben Brown, Reuben Craig, Theo Patel and Teddy Butler. A big step up from the mini-courts but the boys all played well with Reuben B the eventual winner and Teddy runner-up.
9U GIRLS
Amaya Fyfe and Charlotte Bartle were the finalists again with Amaya winning on the day. They would love some more girls to challenge them next year!
8U MIXED – the final was played between William Shearer and Sebastian Edwards on the club mini-courts. The boys battled with the wind, but left the court smiling with William the victor.
Thanks to all players for participating and to Blaise and his coaching team for bringing all the children to this standard where they can enjoy playing competitively and confidently. Thanks also to committee members Gary Ashe & Graham Speight who presented trophies and certificates.
