Heversham with Milnthorpe Tennis Club completed a hugely successful 2015 tennis season with recognition at the annual Cumbria LTA Awards evening held in November 2015 at the North Lakes Hotel in Penrith.
The crowning moment for the Club came when it was awarded the prestigious Cumbria Club of the Year trophy, the second time in three years that the Club has received this award. The award is based on the Club's considerable achievements throughout the year and is underpinned by the Club's successful junior programme overseen by Club senior coach Jon Griffin. Of the many awards received on the night by the Club's junior members, the most notable were James Griffin, Most Improved Boy 11-18 and Road to Wimbledon county winner, the Under 14 boys and girls teams who were Aegon County champions and the Under 12 boys and Under 9 teams who were Aegon South Cumbria champions.
Many of the Club's best junior players graduate into the Club's senior teams and in 2015 they played their part in the Club retaining the Men' s and Ladies Division 1 titles in the Kendal and District Tennis League.
To cap a successful evening, Heversham were well represented in the two principal County team awards. The Cumbria Men’s Over 65 team, comprising mostly of players from the local tennis league, one from Heversham, were honoured with the Cumbria Team of the Year award for their achievement in gaining promotion to the top division of the Seniors Inter-County Championships.
The Under 18 Boy's team, coached by Jon Griffin and including Heversham’s Joseph Wilkinson and brothers Louis & Albert Glaves were awarded the Chris Fidler Memorial Trophy for outstanding county junior team.
