Maryport Tennis Club

We are a small friendly tennis club based in the coastal town of Maryport on the West Cumbria coast. Our facilities include 4 tennis courts with year round access to members, we also have our own clubhouse adjacent to the courts, as well as full access to the changing facilites in the nearby Netherhall Sports Centre subject to their opening hours.

Maryport Tennis Club was 100 years old in 2019. 

We have an active adult section with weekly social tennis for all members to come down and play. 

Information on playing times, payments etc

There are organised social sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings 10:00 - 12:00 and Sundays 17:00 to 19:00 in summer 14:00 - 16:00 when clock changes. Cost is £2 which includes balls. There is a committee member who collects the fees at the social sessions but members can play at any time provided the school is not using the courts. Lights are available at £1 per hour [there is a meter].

Keys for the courts and lights cost £5 each refundable (from Brian Money)

The membership fees for 2021 season are:

Seniors £20, (first year of joining £10) Social Members £10, juniors under 18 £10, students £10 to be paid by 1 June 2021. Subs can be paid by bank transfer, cash or cheque to Frank, Brian or David T.

When you play outside the organized sessions the committee have agreed that members should pay 50p per person per hour (non members £2) And please remember that if you play with a non member, then you should ask that person for £2. We obviously rely on members to pay this fee.

We have no physical means of collecting your court fees and it seems sensible that members do not try and pay each time they play, but keep a record and pay when they see a committee member (Frank, Brian, Olivia, Alison, David T, David O and Norman) or bank transfer.

LEAGUE TENNIS

The club enters several teams (Mens, Womens & Mixed) in the West Cumbria Tennis League with a strong record of success, furthermore we usually run at least one tennis tour a year - in 2019 a trip to Majorca for a week.

In 2021 the Tennis Club will also run tennis tournaments for all members of the tennis club on :-
