Whitehaven Community Tennis Club

Tennis for all the Community

Welcome to Whitehaven Community Tennis Club

As the winter months draw to a close, we hope you are looking forward to returning to the courts and enjoying tennis in (hopefully) warmer conditions. Those who participated in this year’s winter league will no doubt agree it has been a challenging season! We are excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to building on last season’s success as we continue to grow and progress our club.

2024 marked an important milestone for the club with our move to Campus Whitehaven. During the off-season, there have also been some changes behind the scenes relating to the day-to-day running of the club. Committee member John McQuirk stepped down at the end of last season, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks for his dedication and contribution over the years. We wish him all the very best for the future.

We are also delighted to welcome Emma Brown to the committee. Emma has become a familiar face over the past couple of years, regularly attending social sessions and taking part in winter tennis matches, so we are pleased to have her as part of the team.

Looking ahead to the new season, we are pleased to confirm the return of Wednesday social sessions. Given the unpredictability of the weather, we aim to offer three sessions per week to provide greater flexibility should any be affected by rain. As always, our regular Monday evening and Saturday morning sessions will continue.

Following the success of last season, we are delighted to once again offer free social tennis sessions and complimentary adult coaching for members. In addition, we are introducing free away matches for players representing the club in league fixtures. This initiative will run on a trial basis this season and, subject to financial viability, we hope to continue it in the future.

We look forward to seeing you all back on court soon.
