There are currently two opportunities for mini players to obtain a FREE T-shirt linked to competing in local match play events. For new to competition mini red players (aged 8 & under) it's 20 matches to earn a t-shirt & for 10 & under mini players its just competing in their first Whirlwind event!

Before moving onto Whirlwind Mini Tour events players typically first compete in club match play events & currently we have a group of juniors competing at this initial level, many from our junior club & schools programmes.

The recent YR2 Schools competition recently saw 2 teams of four from Woolacombe & 5 teams of four from Ilfracombe Infants competing with other schools at the Indoor Tarka Tennis in Barnstaple with both schools making the final & Woolacombe taking the title this time. We are currently working with over 100 Ilfracombe Infants YR1 juniors & around 200 YR2 & reception juniors have completed 12 weeks tennis earlier in the school year.

The Whirlwind Mini Tour is a sponsored series of events around Devon & Cornwall clubs for 10U, 9U & 8U players to compete & gain points for a county leaderboard with the top 8 players in each age group from each county competing an an end of season finals events that happens twice a year in March & August.

These events are open to players from other clubs & when a player competes in their first event they receive a FREE Whirlwind Mini Tour t-shirt. In June, July & August there are a number of events at Ilfracombe & currently Tarka Tennis Centre run events with Atlantic Racquet Centre expected to run them in the autumn.

More t-shirt & clothing offers may be launched throughout the summer & in the autumn "Kids 4 Tennis" is expected to launch at the club with a t-shirt & racket offer linked to 6-weeks coaching programmes.
