Dell Trophy Marathon
Lowestoft Town Tennis Club were able to hold their first tournament since lockdown. Held over a 6 week period with twelve evenly matched mixed pairs taking part on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Each match in the two sections was two sets, with the final playing a third set as a championship tie-break if needed.
Pairs were split into two sections with the winning pair of each section playing in a final for the trophy.
Section A winners were James Brabben and Elaine Spencer
Section B winners were Allan Robbins and Carol Websdale
The final was an entertaining match with Carol and Allan battling hard against James’s penetrating drives and court dominance and Elaine’s focused determination, which finally gave James and Elaine the edge winning 6-3, 4-6, 10-8, watched by a good socially distanced crowd.
The tournament committee of Denise Wayman, Lucy and Richard Brabben, presented the trophy and prizes.
The next tournament will be for the popular end of season Juler Trophy in September.
