St Johns Tennis Club (Ipswich)

If you live or work in or around Ipswich, this is the place to play tennis, to learn to play or improve your game through coaching. 

Whether you're new to tennis, returning after a break or an established player, there's a warm welcome waiting for you at St John's Tennis Club.

We are a friendly and inclusive club with over 100 adult and 30 junior members. All ages are welcome, from pre-school and school children; students, and adults from 18 to 90. We have a membership plan to suit you.

The Club is wholly owned by our members, and is run on a not-for-profit basis. We have 3 floodlit hard courts and a well-equipped club house where you can stop for a chat and enjoy refreshments.

We offer a very competitive membership which includes playing all year-round, free balls for club play, free floodlights for club play and use of the club house.

Our Coach, Martyn Bullingham, is Level 3 qualified and fully LTA accredited,  Martyn is providing group and 1:1 coaching for all ages and abilities. 

Our Club has lots of opportunities to meet and play with others at social tennis sessions. Social play is on Monday and Tuesday mornings, 09:30 to 12:00,  Wednesday 18:30 to finish and Saturday 13:30 to 17:00. Members can just turn up and play. 

We have recently added walking tennis on a friday morning that runs between 10:00 and 11:30.

We have an effective WhatsApp group so you can check if players are attending club sessions even during inclement weather. 

Electronic court booking means you can book to play with your friends or family too.

In addition to social tennis, we organise Club tournaments. Our internal tournaments run during the summer and box leagues run all year round for all standards of players.

We compete against other Clubs, in the Ipswich and District League. We have several ladies, mens and mixed teams playing in the Summer, Winter and  floodlit leagues.
