Originally from Somerset Dan grew up training at Taunton and Bath LTA academy before embarking on the popular choice of balancing tennis and education in the united States. He played Divison 1 tennis for the  nationally ranked University of Alabama, Birmingham. During his time at UAB he played at #1 singles, #1 doubles and became team captain. Dan left with a degree in Sport and Health in Society.

Following his studies Dan competed on the futures circuit in North America, earning 11 ATP singles points and 8 doubles points in 2014. This included a semi-final appearnace at a 15k futures in Texas. Dan's coaching prior to Millfield includes 3 years in New York City at The John McEnroe Tennis academy and Gotham Tennis Academy. Additionally, Dan spent 2 years as the assistant coach of NCAA Div 1 top 25 ranked Drake University.  Dan started at Millfield in 2017 and moved into the role of Head of Tennis in the summer of 2023.  

Away from the tennis court, Dan enjoys being active and playing many sports, including cricket, cycling and surfing.  He trains and competes regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in which he is a purple belt.
