Ivor Griffiths
Ivor Griffiths was head coach at the club for 20 years before moving to Minehead Club and then Taunton’s Blackbrook Tennis Centre. But Ivor, who lives in Wiveliscombe, is back on court at Wivey every Wednesday morning for what is misleadingly nicknamed Rusty Racquets: some of his charges prove a tough challenge on court when they ‘graduate.’ Ivor has also dedicated huge efforts to helping disabled players, from wheelchair tennis to working with the visually impaired and mentally disabled athletes, winning the national Disability Coach of the Year award in 2015.
