Steve Johnson, Head Coach
Steve is a Level Four LTA accredited coach and has coached players to junior Wimbledon standard. Steve is a former RAF and Combined Services Tennis Champion. The Head Coach coaches the mini and junior after school term time sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays .He also runs holiday sessions during Easter and Summer Holidays. Steve also holds adult drills sessions from September through to March as pay and play sessions. For individual lessons Steve’s fee is £32 per hour (£35 non-members). Contact Steve directly to arrange private lessons, on 07967 188057. Members are responsible for paying their private lesson fees directly to Steve. Steve also provides a racquet stringing service.
Chris Butcher, Level Three Coach
Chris is an LTA accredited level three coach. He assists the Head Coach with all sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and holiday tennis. Chris has undertaken the Lta Tennis For Kids course and will be starting these sessions on Saturday mornings in May 2019. He holds adult fitness and drills sessions on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the year during school term time. Chris has played in the club junior teams and now represents the club in the men's Summer League and Team Tennis. Chris is available for private one to one sessions, usually on Saturdays from midday and weekdays from 9am to 10am. His charge is £15 for 45 minutes or £20 for an hour for members. Adult non members need to add an extra £3 to cover the club visitor fee and Juniors, an extra £1.. He can be contacted on 07523 061618 to arrange a session.
Julie Pennington Level Four Coach
Julie is an LTA accredited level four coach. She has previous experience coaching at club and county level as well as playing at county level. Julie represents the club in the Ladies 1st's in Summer League and Team Tennis. Julie is the club's lead Coach for 'Inclusive tennis' and schools outreach programmes. Julie has unless completed the Lta's tennis For Kids course and will be starting these sessions on Saturday mornings in May. Julie has also completed the cardio tennis course.
Level One and Level Two Tennis Assistants must always work under the guidance of the Head Coach and may not give private one to one tuition for payment.
All coaches with Level Two and above qualifications have been CRB or DBS checked. Level One Tennis Assistants are always supervised by a more senior coach.
The coaching programme is intended to provide something for all members and give them the potential to develop their tennis skills and continued enjoyment of the game.
