Charnwood B topple Lutterworth in Mixed Indoor League

Club coach James Ison inspired Charnwood B to victory over Lutterworth in the latest round of matches of the Leicestershire County Indoor Mixed Tennis League.

Ison teamed up with Wayne Butcher in the opening men's doubles as the pair drew 6-6 in the 40-minute match, claiming what would end up being a crucial half point.

In the opening women's doubles, Caroline King and Bea Cooper saw off their opponents to put Charnwood ahead in the tie.

The reverse mixed doubles were shared, as Ison and Cooper eased to a 7-3 victory while Butcher and King lost out 10-2 in their rubber.

Charnwood B ultimately emerged with a 2.5 - 1.5 victory to boost their chances of staying in Division 1.

A team lose out to strong Leicestershire side

Charnwood A were also in action in the latest round of matches, losing out 4-0 to a strong side from The Leicestershire.

Chris Cottrell and Marc Kroon came closest to landing a rubber in the men's doubles, losing out 9-5 after taking an initial 4-3 lead.

Anna Randall and Els Braithwaite also played for Charnwood A as they lost their first match of the season, following 2-2 draws in their opening two matches against Leicester Forest East and Market Bosworth respectively.
