The awards evening of the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership was recently held at Somerset County Cricket Club when Cheddar Tennis Club’s head coach Stephen Pearce was runner up in the Participation Coach of the Year category.

Nominations for the award recognised coaches of any sport who show an outstanding contribution to getting more people starting, staying and succeeding in sport through high quality coaching, innovation in delivery and dedication to their chosen sport.

Stephen is a popular figure at the club and works tirelessly with both adults and children, making his sessions fun as well as instructive. His award also recognises his association with local schools, introducing and encouraging participation in tennis, and is justly deserved.

Coaching at the club is available to members and non-members alike with opportunities for children aged 3 years upwards, and for adults, rusty rackets, cardio tennis, and ladies beginner/improver sessions are on offer.
