Croquet

Cocks and Hens was originally set up as a croquet and tennis club, so we have a long history of croquet play going back more than 140 years. A croquet lawn is available to members in the warmer months and there is a booking system available on the website. Scroll to the far right scroll beyond Court 10.

Croquet can be played by 2, 4 or 6 players. The object of the game is to be the first to hit your ball(s) through the course of six hoops in the right sequence in each direction and finish by hitting them against the centre peg.

2 sets of croquet equipment are available to use from the clubhouse storeroom, together with the rules of both Association Croquet and Golf Croquet (a short, simplified, game that can be played in 20 mins).

Members who have booked a session should collect a croquet set and insert the hoops in the marked places on the lawn, as instructed.  All equipment, including the hoops, should be returned to the clubhouse after use.

Croquet is available to all adult members, including social members and parents of junior members who are playing/receiving coaching. Juniors may also use the equipment, provided a responsible adult is on site. Guests are also allowed, provided they have paid the guest fee.
