Corona Virus

To all Club Members from Eden Lawn Commitee

Advice from the LTA is that whilst playing tennis outdoors is regarded as safe provided that players respect “social distancing” and use the recommended hygiene practices, all clubhouses and social facilities should be closed.

The advice from the LTA is provided below.

This means that Eden Lawn will remain open for tennis, but there can be no use of or entry to the clubhouse until further notice. It must remain locked.

There will be no organised play. Where members chose to organise their own games and use the courts we strongly advise them to observe the LTA and government advice on social distancing and hygiene procedures.

We are aware that tennis balls can be a risk. Members who might choose to play should bring their own tennis balls, take care not to touch their eyes or mouth, and sanitise their hands after playing.

We would appeal to all members to support the club through this difficult time, whether they choose to play or not. We will continue to keep you informed of club policy in the light of any new Government or LTA advice.

Further to the Government’s announcement yesterday (Friday 20 March) that social spaces such as pubs, gyms and leisure centres must close, all tennis clubhouses and similar social facilities should be closed as soon as possible. Courts however can remain open for use to help ensure people remain active, subject to strict social distancing and hygiene practices being employed – we have updated our dedicated coronavirus page providing advice for venues with additional information as to how to approach this.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update the page with the latest recommendations from the Government and DCMS, so please check it regularly.
