1st August - perfect day for a summer tennis tournament but this is England so it rained all afternoon!
Despite the weather more than 20 people turned up to play with another 10 or so to spectate and enjoy the excellent barbeque and salads. Not everything went according to plan because of the rain. Chris had to go home to cook some of the meat as it was getting too wet to cook it outside so Phil bravely soldiered on for him. Thanks to everyone who brought food.
The tennis continued oblivious of the rain - not ideal for those wearing glasses - but at least it was warm. Thanks to Sandra for organising the matches.
This was Martin's last year as President and he generously provided prizes for winners and runners-up. The Ladies winner was Jill Taylor with Sue Milner coming second. Kevin Milner kept it in the family by coming second in the Men's where Mike Bane was the winner.
All in all a successful afternoon.
Thanks to everyone who came along to play or help or just spectate. It was lovely to see some new faces. See you again next year!
