The end of summer season Juler Trophy Tournament took place on Sunday the 13 September.
The organising committee of Lucy Brabben, Denise and Richard had issued details a couple of weeks prior and the response from the club was great with 30 players signing up for the day - the maximum under current LTA Covid19 rules.
The weather was perfect with sun and no wind as the participants were placed into 3 sections of 5 mixed pairs, playing a round robin against all in their section for a timed 30 minutes. This gave one pair in each section time out for socially distanced refreshments.
Rules were kept simple with the only change to normal play being a sudden death deuce on the second deuce.
Pairs were evened up so a very close tournament ensued with the final tally of games won leading to Jensen and Desi on 25, Richard and Mandy and Jamie and Christine on 23, so a count of games against gave Jamie and Christine a one game lead.
An exciting and good standard of tennis took place in the final with some excellent rallies with Desi and Jensen taking the trophy after the 30 minute battle.
