Tennis Leicestershire is very sad to announce that Mike James our Head of Performance will be leaving the role at the end of this this term
At the Tennis Leicestershire AGM on Monday 10th February 2020, Mike Piper Chairman of the Tennis Leicestershire Board said,
“Mike James has done a great job during his two years in charge of running our performance coaching squads. Mike has increased the number of children attending county training from 40 to c80 players over the last 2 years. We now have County training for boys and girls at U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U14 & U18. In February last year Mike took a party of top young players to Rome to experience playing on real clay with Alex Guzder and Ben Minski. Mike has been supported by an excellent team of coaches including Alex Guzder, Ben Minski, Tim Jamieson, Lois Elson, Tim Stanton, Richard Surtees and Tom Lewis and Nick Rose. I would like to thank all of them for all that they have done on behalf of the County.
Sadly, Mike James has decided to resign his position to concentrate on his work with top ATP Players. I would like to put on record my thanks to him for everything he has done for the County and we wish him well in future. Mike will continue to manage county training until the end of the Easter term.”
County Training will continue as usual after Easter in the same format as this term and selection will be based on the updated rankings and recent form.
