Knighton Tennis Centre – COVID-19  Venue guidelines


All Visitors to site should follow the guidelines below when visiting or playing at the Knighton Tennis Centre

Face masks must be worn in reception, the viewing gallery or any communal areas where you are unable to social distance. The Knighton Tennis Centre is following Government guidelines and the Lionheart Trust as made the wearing of masks in these areas a requirement. Please bring your own mask as these will not be provided by the centre. If you need to dispose of your face mask, please use the general waste bins around the site. Please place these into a plastic bag and seal before disposing.

  • Please use the general waste bins around the centre.
  • Please DO NOT USE the recycling bins.

What are we doing to keep you safe?

  • Hand sanitiser units are stationed around the centre for your use on arrival, during and when you leave the KTC.
  • Large protective screens in front of the reception desk, please DO NOT OPEN this. Please adhere to the 2 metre social distancing.
  • Enhanced and more frequent cleaning regimes will be in place throughout the day and evening.
  • Signage to remind guests to social distance at all times along with hand washing are displayed around the centre.
  • A track and trace system will be in place whereby we will require your name, telephone and postcode on arrival. The school will only use this information for track and trace purposes.

What can our customers do to keep themselves and fellow customers safe?

  • Please do not visit us if you or any member of your household have symptoms ofCovid19 or you have been contacted by the NHS Track and Trace Team.
  • Keep to a safe distance away from other guests in accordance with the latest guidelines.
  • Please respect other guests while you are in the KTC at all times.
  • Follow directional signage (one way systems) at all times during you visit.
  • Wash your hands regularly using soap and water or use the hand sanitiser which is provided around the centre.
  • Use your own equipment (racquets, ball’s and clothing).
  • If you feel unwell at any time, or displaying any symptoms of Covid-19, you must leave the centre immediately, without interacting with anyone else. You should then contact us on 0116 2708 696 as soon as possible to let us know.
  • All transactions are now cashless. The Lionheart academy trust now operates a cashless model and will be completed by using a contactless pay system or by BACS transfer.
  • The viewing gallery has very limited seating due to social distancing guidelines. Please do not stay to spectate if you really do not need to. No standing allowed within the viewing gallery.
  • If you have any concerns while you are visiting the centre, please contact one of the Tennis Centre staff on site.
  • All groups must nominate a person to be responsible for track and trace and coaching groups should prepare their own risk assessment and present this to the centre prior to using.

Knighton Tennis Centre

Knighton Tennis Club was formed in January 2010.

Situated on the site of Sir Jonathan North College, the centre benefits from a partnership with the college. The students take advantage of the fantastic facility for their curriculum tennis and providing players for the clubs teams. Sir Jonathan North College is part of the Lionheart Academy Trust.

Since 2010 the club have been successful in all levels and age groups of team tennis and in 2012 Knighton became the Tennis Leicestershire club of the Year due to its success in the AEGON team tennis competitions.

In the following years Knighton maintained its high achievements winning divisions in all Mini tennis ratings and tennis ball levels.

In October 2019 the centre invested in new LED energy efficient lighting, providing high standard visibility and reducing our carbon footprint.

In October 2020 the centre invested again in completely resurfacing all 4 indoor courts offering a top level playing surface.

The club has a wide range of coaching courses available from beginners to top level junior and adult performance.

The tennis centre houses 4 acrylic indoor courts and a viewing balcony and has refreshment facilities.

Coming 2021

Grand launch of the new facilities with external providers being present offering a wide range of services. This will include all coaching and other activities available at the centre throughout 2021.


Outdoor tennis courts - The centre will update the external tennis courts with new tennis markings at the rear of the indoor centre) This will create 6 outdoor tennis courts for usage during the summer weekday evenings and weekends.

Court fees

Members = £12.50 per court, per hour - All courts booked and paid for online through your membership package. Extra slots available exclusively to members only.

Non-Members = £20.00 per court, per hour - No online booking facility.

Exclusive member discounts offered on Tennis Xpress and Cardio Tennis Sessions.
