Summer League Updates

Charnwood II eased to a 6-3 home victory over local rivals Loughborough II in the Leicestershire County Summer Mixed Doubles Tennis League.

The Charnwood team consisted of Jamie Potts and Caroline King, Kevin Leck and Hannah Kendrick-Holmes, and Nick Barham and Claire Elkington. Loughborough brought Sebastian Kay and Iustina Viorescu, always a solid pairing, as their first pair, and these two remained unbeaten all evening.

However, the other two Loughborough pairs were not as strong, and Charnwood won the other six rubbers comfortably, with Leck and Kendrick-Holmes the most clinical, as they defeated the other two couples 8-0.

Captain Kevin Leck observed that it had been an enjoyable match with Charnwood's friendly local rivals, and hoped that the team would complete their campaign with a strong performance against Gynsill II next week, which could see them finish second in division 2B.

Charnwood mixed doubles third team hosted David Lloyd seconds, in a match played on their savanna courts on Thursday 24th August.

Charnwood played some excellent tennis, but their opponents were just too powerful and ended up with a victory by seven sets to two.
