Hello, everyone,

We have started Spring Junior Coaching at Medbourne  and it was great to see a good turnout with children from 4 years up to 16 attending on both Thursday and Sunday. This will continue every Thursday from 4.30pm to 7pm, and every Sunday 10am to 2pm.

Please tell your friends, and any friends of friends. Not to mention acquaintances! Junior Coaching is now ON at Medbourne twice every week. The first session is free, and just £5 a go after that. Why not come twice a week and improve twice as quickly? All ages are welcome from beginners to team. And I have an excellent helper in County Junior Mixed Doubles Champion Charlotte Clarke, so we can easily cater for mixed standard groups.

And don’t worry about the weather – it was cold but nobody complained. Dress warm, wear gloves and a hat, and we’ll keep you moving and having fun. Why not give it a go??!!

The first Adult session for team standard players was well-attended last Monday with 12 attending. Next week I will also bring an extra coach along to keep things sharp. The standard of the group was really high, and everyone worked hard. I was impressed!! Thank you to everyone who came along, and I look forward to seeing you again this Monday from 7pm to 8.30.

I am also available for individual lessons at £30 per hour at most times. Just ask if interested and we can fix it up.

We may not often see Andy Murray and Johanna Konta at Medbourne but we do count a British Champion amongst our members. Congratulations to top Seniors player Martin Gillam who is a current GB team member, as well as British Over 55s Grass Court Champion. Impressive!

I recommend that all Medbourne members sign up for British Membership. It is FREE and allows entry into the Wimbledon Ticket Ballot amongst other benefits. It is also very good for the Club as the number of tickets allocated to each tennis club is based on the number of opt-ins to LTA membership. I would particularly like to see all juniors signing up and getting a free rating. Even if you don’t play matches now you may in the future and having a rating is the first step on the ladder. Also note that any child under 8 will get a free LTA membership even if not a member of a tennis club. The whole process should only take a couple of minutes at www.lta.org.uk/member/ 

I attended the AGM last Tuesday and enjoyed it very much. Thank you to everybody there for being so friendly!
