Charnwood Tennis Club played in the hugely popular and prestigious Mercury Cup final away at The Leicestershire Club on Saturday 25th June, to determine the best team in the County. The final of this mixed doubles competition incredibly lasted for over five hours, after which The Leicestershire Club won the final set to take the Cup by five sets to four. However, without a number of key players Charnwood showed tremendous commitment and determination and will have gained invaluable experience from the match. The Charnwood team was nicely balanced with youth and experience as well as players with guile alongside power hitters. Stand in captain for Charnwood, Kevin Leck was delighted with his team's display and also had praise for the talents of The Leicestershire Club who played with great skill in a match played in fine spirits.
