Charity Tournament

Charnwood Tennis Club hosted its annual women's charity tennis tournament on Wednesday 15th March in aid of The Multiple System Atrophy Trust (MSA Trust). The Trust offers support to those affected by MSA, their carers, family and friends, as well as funding research into MSA to find the cause and ultimately a cure for the disease.

MSA is a progressive neurological disease that causes nerve cells to shrink in different areas of the brain.

It leads to problems with movement, speech, balance and autonomic body functions such as bladder and blood pressure control.

MSA usually starts at between 50 and 60 years of age and affects around 5 people per 100,000.

Organiser, club coach Caroline Wilkinson was delighted with the success of the event, which along with a delicious lunch for the competitors raised over £400 for the MSA Trust.

Fund raising was boosted by a generous raffle donation of an engraved bottle of Laurent Perrier from Wheelers Luxury Gifts in Loughborough.
