Booking Rules
- Only a member can book a court
- If you intend to occupy a court for sole use only, for example, to practise your service, you must only book for 30 minutes, although if at the end of this session this or other courts are free, you may continue your activity. As a supplement to this rule, if you have booked for longer than 30 minutes, expecting to be joined by another player or players, as soon as you are aware that the player or players will not be joining you, unless you intend to cancel completely (see below), you should reduce your booking to 30 minutes in order to comply with the rule mentioned in this paragraph.
- If you have booked a court (of any length) but find you will not be using that booking, you should cancel the booking so that the court is available for others to book.
- You can only book a session up to 90 minutes
- You can only book a week ahead
- You must only book three sessions of play in a week
- If at the end of your session no one is using the court, you are welcome to continue playing past your booking time
The exceptions to these rules are:
- League matches
- Men’s/ladies’ nights
- Club play
- Annual club tournament (where two hours per match are allowed to ensure time to complete the three sets)
There has been some recent confusion regarding the club’s informal singles league. Please note that members should still book only 90 minutes. If you are concerned about finishing your match in this time, please consider booking at a time when it is unlikely anyone will be playing after you’ve finished.
Please be considerate of the rules and other members wishing to play, for example, if you are playing singles, please do not extend the 90 minutes by using two names.
The booking system is operated through ClubSpark and does alert when a member has overbooked. The club will endeavour to resolve overbookings informally and amicably. To help with this, please avoid booking in 30 minute slots on the website if you intend to play for 90 minutes, as this is flagged up as three separate bookings. Instead choose the option to book for 90 minutes at a time.
